Herbicide Use & Safety

HD Machines consults all labels and MSDS before utilizing a herbicide. We maintain a copy of the label and the MSDS for each herbicide in the cab of each truck. All of the herbicides we utilize are registered pesticide: granted under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act for is intended use (forestry, rangeland, and right-of-way)

 

Herbicides are used on the railroad to control grasses, broadleaf weeds, brush, and trees.

 

HD Machines operational details:

 

Target plants: Visit and inspect each area to determine what are the target plant to be treated

 

Mode of action: Determine the proper herbicide to be applied for best results, and environmentally friendly

 

Method of application and rates: Determine best type of application and proper rate (Amount) of application

 

 

On rail safety training and programs: We have a certified Roadway Worker Trainer that conducts annual training for all our drivers and management

 

Herbicide training and licensing: Drivers are trained in HD Vegetation Management (HDVM) training each season. Drivers are also Certified Applicator’s in the handling and application of pesticides. Complete annual continuing training in the use and handling of pesticides to meet all state and federal laws
